Aerial arts
I do Aerial arts/theater arts/circus arts, including lyra, aerial silk (fabric), trapeze, stilts and clown acting. I do all of these through the Peñasco Theater, with my main teacher Alessandra Ogren. I have been doing these arts with the theater since I was about 4, so almost 10 years. My most prefered medium is aerial silk.
School Activities
Cross Country
I have done cross country for 2 seasons, once in 2019 and this past fall in 2021. Unfortunately I have a foot problem which means my foot rolls in and collapses on itself which means I have to wear bulky orthotics that go up to the middle of my shin, this will fix my feet even though it is painful in the moment, during the whole season this year and 2019 I would get these huge blisters, (like the size of 2 quarters) on the inside of my foot and they would get especially bad after races. At the beginning of the year I ran for the middle school team even even though I was eligible for the JV or Varsity team because of my pain, I enjoyed this partly because I would get a big head when I was like "wow! I got 3rd place!" even though I was running a too easy race for me. The half way through the season I was switched to the girls varsity team. When pre-state came I got 52nd on the varsity team with 23 mins 37 secs for 3 miles. But when it got to state, I was so nervous, even though it was the same course as I had ran a few weeks before because I got 62.5*1. But all the work paid off even if I didn't get as this year the girls team got 1st place for state!

Mariachi
I play the vihuela, it is kind of a spanish lute. The vihuela is a small guitar, with only 5 strings and the bottom has an angular bowl shape. When you hear mariachi music it is the rhythm in the music, it mainly follows the gitaron's deep beat. I also know how to play the violin, I started playing the violin when I was 6 and I decided to try something new when I was 12. I really like the vihuela but I also really enjoyed playing the violin. Something interesting is I actually learned the vihuela completely online in spring of 2021, which was in one word was....different. In the fall semester of 2021 we were back in person (mostly) I only had 3 other students in the mariachi class, (which was very different from the last semester where it was still a small class but there was a good 12) we had a violin player, my sister*2 10th grade, a trumpet player 9th grade (the band teachers daughter), a guitar player 7th grader (we used to mess around so much in class😝!), and me 8th grade. I really prefer a small class, 1. I find it hard and intimidating to interact with a large group *3, (I can talk or act in front of them fine maybe it's just acting friendly and interacting with a large group)

Footnotes
*1 Dear readers, you may be thinking: "It is impossible to get 62.5 place!" so let me elaborate, me and another girl at the end of the race I was sprinting against and it turned out we crossed the finish line at the exact same time so on the scoreboard I was put as 63d and the other girl was 62nd, but when you look at the times we were the same time. So I say I got 62nd place but formally I was 63rd.
*2 Me and my sister both learned the violin, the only difference is she stuck with it, as for me after 6 years I decided I wanted to try something new. She is 2 years older than me.
*3 I am an extrovert with a small group, but in a large group or a new group I turn into a introvert and hide in my shell.
